Sunday saw Dad a bit more alert and engaged than the past couple days.
His vital signs and labs continue to be positive indicators that he is making headway toward recovery.
Dad was off the ventilator during the daylight hours on Sunday.
Although his breathing remains somewhat labored without the ventilator assistance, he was able to make some conversation with Mom, John, Charlene and Mike.
On top of the conversation, Mom got some smiles and a few puckers for kisses, which made it a good Valentine's Day. She was very pleased to see Dad's brighter spirits.
John and Mike got some smiles and chuckles, particularly when John presented Dad with a Valentine-themed "Pez" dispenser. It's an inside joke that always gets a rise out of Dad.
As always, thank you so much for your prayers, good wishes and offers of assistance. Please continue to pray for Dad's complete recovery, as well as for strength and a sense of peace for both Mom and Dad.
Miles, Dale still does the "silly walk" on occasion, just to drive people nuts! It still makes me laugh. We are keeping up with the blog and hoping to get there to see you soon. The snow keeps coming and just won't quit. I refuse to get in the car w/Dale if I think there's any possibility I may be stuck in there with him for a period of time.... Thinking of you and Noodie everday and sending our warmest wishes for everything good. What great times we would have had in all this snow on East Shannon!
Dad passed away April 23, 2010 at 9:30 AM EDT at the Hospice Care facility in Elkins. A copy of his obituary can be seen here or in the Inter-Mountain.
Thanks to all who sent messages for Miles and the family. This site will remain in place for a while, so please feel free to leave a message using the Comments option below each entry. If you prefer, you can send a private message via email or regular mail. Thank you for your prayers and support over these past few months.
Miles get well soon.
