- Dad was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed (relatively, speaking).
- He was quite talkative and was particularly interested in food. Ice cream was first on the list and progressed to asking "what's on the menu?"
- While the answer was no, it was fortunate that his doctor was present during that time. He put orders in for the speech therapists to see how Dad would tolerate a small amount of thickened liquids on Monday. Success on that front would be a big step forward.
- Among the conversational highlights...responded to the doctor's how are you feeling question with "Fine, how are you feeling?"...when Mom told him that he couldn't have a glass of water, he asked "Well, can I have half a glass?"...without prompting, he let us know that "Everyone's been very nice."
- All-in-all this was the most lucid we've seen Dad since the surgery. It was great to see - what a blessing!
- Things took a small step backwards in the afternoon, as he had some irregular heart activity, which led to going back on the ventilator for the balance of the day as a precaution and to let him rest. My unscientific guess is that he was "over-achieving" while he was up and just overtaxed himself a bit.
Keep praying for Dad's recovery and remember Mom in your prayers. We appreciate them more than words can express - thank you.
Miles, I just spoke with our limo driver, Abdul and tried to arrange for his service for any future visits. He said he quit the limo business and was now flying for United Airlines, but would come drive us as long as I gave directions and Miles kept his hands off the controls in the back. I declined his offer. Hang in there ole buddy. Iron Mike
