March 9 & 10, 2010 - Successful Procedure

Tuesday, March 9th, was a quiet day. Dad rested comfortably - an improvement from yesterday.
  • As is the pattern lately, Dad spent most of the day with his speaking valve on, but his voice off. He sat up in a robo-chair for a couple hours.
  • He talked by phone to son Mike in the afternoon. Dad was really perked up when they spoke.
  • As noted in an earlier post, we were told that he would be going back to surgery on Wednesday for the debridement of tissue on his left foot. More on how the procedure went below.
  • Otherwise, vital signs and other indicators were positive through an uneventful day.
  • The care at Presby continues to impress.

Wednesday the 10th was an altogether good day . The vascular doctors successfully debrided (pronounced de-breeded) the tissue around the surgical wound on Dad's left foot - an answered prayer.
  • The outcome of the debridement was as anticipated by the surgeons, so that's good news - no surprises when they did the procedure.
  • Otherwise, it was a quiet day.
  • Dad was asleep or sleepy from the medications he gets for pain, along with the effect of the general anesthesia.
  • Vital signs remained steady.
  • The timing of the move to Select Specialty Hospital is still up in the air, but still prepared that it could happen any time.
Thanks, so much, for your prayers and support. Please remember to keep Dad in your prayers, and ask for strength and peace for Mom and Dad through this ordeal.
