- Dad remained stable and is still on the ventilator full-time to assist him with breathing.
- His vital signs were in acceptable ranges and there was no fever reported.
- We were told that the transesophageal echocardiogram did not show bacteria on the valve installed during the original December surgery. Actually, that was disappointing news, since finding bacteria would have indicated a clear treatment path using antibiotics and other medicine.
- Instead, we learned that the test led the doctors to determine that the poor ejection rate of Dad's heart (his is about 20%, whereas normal would be 60-65%) is being caused by his thickened heart walls.
- Dad continues to get attention from the physical and occupational therapists. He has been up in a stretcher/robo-chair for a few hours during the day and the therapists report that Dad is making an effort to participate and cooperate during the therapy sessions.
- His mood is about the same - generally quiet and withdrawn, although he is responsive when needed.
