The Joads Are On the Move -- UPDATED

FLASH - DAD MOVED TODAY

Dad was admitted to the Medical ICU at UPMC Presbyterian this afternoon (Friday, February 26th). The new mailing address will be posted as soon as it's known.
  • He tolerated the ambulance ride well and is resting comfortably. His vital signs are good and he is stable.
  • The medical staff has started on his evaluation and the vascular team has visited. No definitive word yet on what they will recommend.
  • They will resume the weaning process Saturday morning after a good long rest on the ventilator after his transfer.
  • So far, I'm impressed with the UPMC team and approach.
Thanks for your prayers and support. Please continue to pray for great outcomes.

Thanks!

You probably already know this - however, Ryan & I live about 30 minutes from UPMC. We will be in town this weekend if you need anything at all - NEVER hesitate to call us (I believe Ryan left you with our number). Moving to UPMC is a good sign! Safe travels & we will see you soon.

  2. Miles, I had a dream last night that you should appreciate. You, Back, Vandenbergh and I were playing basketball against the current D&E team. We had a 5th guy as well. We defeated the varsity and you scored 60 points! Well, that in itself is a dream, but the fifth guy was Paul Wilcox and he fed you all night. We both know Paul never had an assist in his entire career, so this was truly a dream. Iron Mike

  3. Hi Miles and Noodie,

I took my oral exam for my masters yesterday and I wore the shamrock necklace you gave me. I think it brought me special luck - it was featured in a question they asked. So thank you!!

I hope you are doing well and that the move to Pittsburgh was uneventful. I'm sending positive and warm thoughts your way from Florida.

    Love,

    Anna

  4. Joads.

    Good one!

Speakers here at the Pipestem EMS conference include several from UPMC hospitals, and they are highly professional. Good sign for Miles.

Friends were reminiscing about old cars, reminding me of Miles' '49 Crosley that I was privileged (not the best word) to drive while he, Noodie and Woody were in Germany.

Looking forward to talking with Miles more about that car.

  5. Just spoke with one of Grandson Chris' fellow Clarksburg FD members, Rick Scott (Pipestem conference here is both Fire and EMS), who is an old friend and EMS Competition colleague. Rick spoke highly of Chris.

I still may have the marque off that old Croseley...

I fully expect for you and me to go sit on a bar stool somewhere and have a beer!! I am old enough now you now, not that 2 year old you took with you in Belington... Mom and Daddy said you were responsible for my love of beer!!! WE love you Miles and since mom is so computer illiterate I am keeping her up to date from this and she sends her favorite cousin lots and lots of love and hugs.... Love Susan
