- Vital signs are good and his foot is free of infection. So, the physical part is going OK. He still spends 7-8 hours at night on the ventilator and he's still bedridden as a practical matter.
- Getting Dad on his feet will tell us a lot, plus it should be catalytic in speeding the healing process.
- One bird at time, buddy, one bird at a time.
- On the bright side, one of the nurses told Mom how funny Dad is. It's good to know that he's being himself with the care team and not just putting on a show for us.
- The wait resumes for a bed to open up at Select Specialty Hospital. The transfer process was reset with Dad's trip to the OR for the debridement procedure on the 10th.
Friday. March 12, was quiet. Dad slept most of the day due to dosages of pain medication.
- He's getting the pain meds to help with the discomfort from wound care. The doctors changed the process to be more aggressive about keeping infections at bay.
- Son John and his wife Charlene are visiting for a few days from Newport News.
- Dad was alert enough (through the medication fog) to interact with John and enjoy his company.
- John reports that he sees a lot of progress since his last visit, which was about a month ago. That's good to hear.
- Dad's vital signs and other indicators all remain positive.
- No word yet on a bed opening up at Select.
Miles,

Many talking heads now predicting a final four appearance, but no one thinks Kansas can be beaten.
Except Huggins and his boys!
Love and prayers,
