March 5 & 6, 2010 - Quiet Days

March 5th and 6th were quiet days. For the most part, Dad rested comfortably both days.
  • He was off the ventilator 16+ hours each day.
  • Vital signs, labs and other indicators all continue to be positive.
  • The vascular team continues to closely monitor Dad's left foot. Please pray specifically for Dad's foot to remain free of infection.
  • With everything being reasonably quiet, we're just waiting on a bed to open up "across the hall" at Select Specialty Hospital. "Across the hall" is the euphemism used by the UPMC staff since the buildings are connected by enclosed walkways, but it's actually over a block away.

  • On Saturday, friends Gladys and Steve visited from West Virginia. They were impressed by Dad's progress since they visited him in Morgantown. As I've noted before, this kind of feedback is an encouragement to us, since it is not always easy to discern the small steps.
  • Also on Saturday, friends Bob and Helen made the trip from Ohio to visit. Dad's right, Bob is very funny.
  • Thanks to all.
Thanks to all for the prayers, visits, cards, letters, eCards, calls and other forms of encouragement and support. We appreciate it greatly and make sure that all of your messages are heard by Dad.

Please continue to lift Dad up in your prayers for his complete healing. Also, continue to lift up Dad and Mom up in prayer for strength and peace throughout this ordeal.
