Friday the 2nd was Dad's first full day at Select - Montefiore. As we've learned, the first full day means a battery of tests, poking, prodding and other evaluations meant to level-set the understanding of his status for the medical staff taking over his care. On the whole it makes for a busy and trying day for Dad.
He went back on the ventilator mid-morning to let him rest from a labored breathing run.
Otherwise, his vitals were holding steady.
No fever was evident, but the doctor decided to ramp up the antibiotic regimen to deal with the bacteria in his lungs that's been mentioned in earlier posts.
His beard-in-progress fell prey to a lack of communication in the transfer from Presby. The offending staff were very apologetic, which apology we quickly accepted on Dad's behalf. He's got plenty of time to grow hair, so no harm done.
Dad had an echo-cardiogram in the afternoon. We will get results after the cardiologist reviews the images.
After reviewing Dad's recent health history and other fact gathering with his case manager in a morning meeting, we pressed the message that "He needs a win."
Thanks to all for your prayers and support. Please continue to pray for Dad's complete healing, including his peace of mind with his circumstances. Also, please pray for Dad and Mom to have strength and peace throughout this ordeal.
Dad passed away April 23, 2010 at 9:30 AM EDT at the Hospice Care facility in Elkins. A copy of his obituary can be seen here or in the Inter-Mountain.
