Sorry for the little lapse in updates. I traveled home to Fort Worth Monday afternoon. Random Observation - If you are traveling from east to west, try to book a flight that leaves about an hour or so before sunset and get a window seat on the left side of the plane. The result is that you will have a beautiful view of an extended sunset as you chase it into the west. If you like sunsets, you'll dig the experience. If not, take the aisle seat.
Here's a shot of Monday's sunset from 30,000 feet.
Dad continued to be stable on Monday and Tuesday.
- His vital signs are holding in there, along with good labs. Steady as it goes.
- He is still on and off the ventilator, and we learned Tuesday that he has bronchitis. The bronchitis is not troubling at this point, as it is not accompanied by any fever or other signs of infection, but it is being treated aggressively.
- Dad's level of awareness continues to improve. That's good news. The downside is that his increasing lucidity has lead to a visible sense of unhappiness and frustration, as he better understands his situation. He has a long, hard road ahead to full recovery and that seems to be sinking in.
- A few calls from friends and family over the 2 days significantly brightened Dad's otherwise glum demeanor.

Miles,
ReplyDeleteHurry up and get well so you can take me "Farm Golfing."
Soon as I get my new car running, I'll be up to visit. Got me a Chevy; well, it's mostly Chevy, with a Pinto gas tank and a Toyota accelerator. Still needs a "stributy" cap and a "university" joint, and it'll be good as new.
Hang in there.
